Integrity and experience are two qualities at the root of Theresa Dillard’s character that have gifted her with an innate ability to bring radio promotions to fruition. TS Promotions was founded in 2005 and began as a desire by one of the gospel industry's most recognized and accomplished promoters to bridge the gap of Gospel and Country artists and songs for radio listeners nationwide. Theresa began working at WDZQ, a country radio station, in Decatur, IL, as the morning co-host. “I was able to help with production, song reviews, station promotions, sales, voiceovers, just about everything you can possibly do at a radio station and I loved it,” says Theresa. “By having this background, I feel that I have a better understanding of the struggles that a station and its staff deal with on a day to day basis.” There is so much more to what goes on with the station’s day to day operations and with their on-air staff than just playing music and with the background she has, Theresa helps to meet those needs and understands what they are going through. Theresa Smith Dillard brought her passion for music to Nashville in 1998 and took the National Radio Promotions position for one of the most prominent Southern Gospel record labels in the music industry, Daywind Records. While at Daywind, Theresa garnered over 20 #1 songs for artists who now claim Dove and Grammy nods, year after year. After working with some of the best artists in Southern Gospel music, Theresa fell in love with the people, the music, the Radio DJ’s, simply, everything about it. She noticed the impact she had in helping each individual go down the path God had chosen for them through this opportunity. “Knowing that I am assisting those singers in proclaiming the Gospel in song is a blessing for me,” Theresa said. “Knowing I can help take some of the “business burdens” off of the artists so that they can focus on leading people to Christ is a blessing.” Theresa’s experience and relationships have helped her build a thriving, successful career and company. Charlie Monk, known as a Renaissance man in Country music for his work with radio and even songwriting, once gave Theresa the following advice when thinking about starting TS Promotions, “If you want a ‘job’ go get a ‘job.’ Make sure your resume is updated and see what you can find. But if you want a career and something that you love, follow that love. Pursue it with all you’ve got.” And that, she did… |
