There was really no point to writing a separate bio for each of them, because there is no way to tell where one of them ends and the other begins. Jimmy and Jennifer Layne, live in South Pittsburg, TN. Jimmy has lived in South Pittsburg his entire life, and Jennifer grew up in the small town of Jasper, about six miles away. They have both had ministries for many years, but just recently began singing as a group. The name of their group was taken from the parable in Luke 15:11 about the son who willingly walked away from his father. They are that son. They walked away, and found they could not make it without being home with our Father. Although we all fail in so many ways, and what a love our God has for us to welcome us back into his loving arms, as if we had never strayed. How amazing to know that no matter where you have gone, you can humble yourself and go home, and God will rejoice in your return, and restore, and bless you. Jimmy and Jennifer are veteran singers with tons of performance and studio experience to draw on for their work together. They are both equally talented and with the different influences they bring to BACK HOME, it allows them the freedom to pull from a wide range of material. These are real people with real talent and real-life human experiences, both wonderful and painful that they are allowing God to use to glorify Himself! Bruce Carroll states, “Jimmy and Jennifer Layne are two truly gifted singers and performers. Their new record, Pocket Full of Crosses, is a splendid collection of songs excellently performed and wonderfully produced. Having known them both for many years has allowed me to get a glimpse of what genuine Christians they really are. They live what they sing and I feel honored to have been asked to contribute to their latest project. I also had them at my church last weekend and people are still talking about what a blessing they were. Give them a listen. You will be so glad you did." Nominated for 2009 SGM Fan Fair’s New Excelling Artist of the Year, Back Home has been receiving acclaim from industry professionals across the country. Les Butler, of Singing News Magazine and Solid Gospel Radio Network, states, “Back Home is a top notch southern, country and bluegrass gospel duo. These two can sing!” This year, Back Home is up for SGM Fan Fair’s Favorite Duet of the Year. Jeff and Sheri Easter and Aaron and Amanda Crabb are among the nominees in the same category. Recently releasing Pocket Full of Crosses, Back Home has been traveling with this project full of strong southern gospel music. "Pocket Full of Crosses is a really great record. Great song selection, great arrangements, instrumentation and great singing. Overall a GREAT record,” says Gordon Mote. |
